RECOMMENDED COCO COIR SUBSTRATE FOR GROWING CANNABIS

COCO PEAT FIBER/COCO PEAT IS RECOMMENDED FOR CULTIVATION OF CANNABIS
To maximize yield and thus profit from the grower's input, it is imperative to use the best cannabis growing substrate in coir. The selected substrate plays an important role in the substrate-plant-atmosphere continuum where cannabis plants grow. With limited research results available for commercial cannabis production, determining the ideal physical and chemical properties for the perfect substrate can be challenging.

The physical and chemical properties of the substrate will influence the penetration and expansion of cannabis roots. Additionally, the movement, retention and availability of water, which acts as a nutrient transporter in soilless systems, is influenced by the physical and chemical properties of the substrate. The physical and chemical properties of the substrate also influence the mobility, adhesion, and availability of nutrients to the cannabis plant. When any of these factors are negatively affected by the physical and chemical properties of the substrate, plant growth and, of course, yield will be reduced.

Agronomic RESEARCH TO ACHIEVE THE PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROPERTIES OF THE SUBSTANCE
With only the general requirements of the cannabis plant available through published research, we went further, analyzing and quantifying all the variables in the physical and chemical realm of the substrate. As a result, specific processes have been recognized and introduced as part of the essential plan to determine the ideal physical and chemical properties present in the perfect substrate. These properties are continuously scrutinized through collaborative research to significantly further improve the perfect substrate in the future.

DISTRIBUTION, SCREENING AND MECHANICAL WASHING AND CHEMICAL Buffering
After a long period of composting (12 to 18 months), the coir is screened to remove dust and decomposing substances. Pelemix's screening technology produces a clean product with a higher porous content that increases porosity and water movement in the root zone. Excess salt is washed away during the mechanical washing process and the coir is chemically buffered to reduce the sodium or potassium concentration in the coir, balancing the cation ratio in the medium. These processes will reduce conductivity and stabilize Ph between 5.8 - 6.0. A medium cation exchange coefficient (CEC) is typical with coir and it can be buffered more if an even lower CEC is required to eliminate nutrient adhesion.

Fractionation technology involves further screening and then the material is divided into three special types through fractionation. Another attribute is that a wide range of coir shell fragments in specific particle sizes are included in the entire spectrum. Combining these materials in specific quantities results in ideal substrate physical properties for the perfect substrate.

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE BEST COCONUT FIBER FOR CANNABIS PRODUCTION
By continuously collaborating on research, we always update the quality of our growing media for cannabis growers. The ideal substrate is created through a well-planned process to consistently achieve the same physical and chemical properties. The optimal Ph for cannabis is 5.8 – 6.2, where the Ph of coir fits into that range of 5.8 -6.0 and is therefore ideal.

The substrates are digested, washed and screened, giving you a clean and homogeneous chemically buffered substrate, ideal Ph and Medium Cation Exchange Capacity with Low Conductivity for cannabis production Optimal. Additional buffering to further reduce CEC is done at grower request.

Through fractionation, Premium Long Fiber (PLF) is combined with shredded rice husks of predetermined standardized sizes to ensure a porous substrate conducive to root growth and root elongation. Additionally, the substrate has excellent water retention, drainage, aeration and drainage properties.
