What Is a VINATAP Coco Coir Grow Bag?

The VINATAP Grow Bag is a compressed coconut coir grow slab packed in a UV–resistant PE bag, ready to expand with water and use as a complete growing medium. It is designed for sustainable and clean production of vegetables, flowers and fruits in modern horticulture.

Each grow bag combines:

  • Coir Medium: washed & buffered cocopeat, coir fiber and coco husk chips mixed in crop–specific ratios (for example: 40% cocopeat + 30% coir fiber + 30% husk chips for tomatoes and cucumbers) to ensure optimal aeration, drainage and moisture retention.
  • Media Bag: UV–resistant PE film, black inside – white outside, with pre–cut planting and drainage holes to make nursery and cultivation simple and efficient.

The compressed coir block inside will expand and fill the bag completely after watering, turning into a loose, airy and stable substrate ready for planting.

Structure & Components of VINATAP Grow Bag

1. Coir Medium (Substrate Mix)

The coir medium is blended from selected coconut materials processed at VinaTap Cocopeat Factory:

  • 70–95% washed cocopeat (coir pith)
  • 5–30% coco husk chips and short coir fibers
  • Low EC, buffered and high–temperature disinfection treatment

Typical mixing ratios for grow slabs:

  • 70% peat + 30% husk chips – for tomatoes, peppers, melons
  • 60% peat + 40% husk chips – for cucumbers, berries, high–drainage crops
  • Special blends on request for herbs, strawberries or cannabis cultivation.

2. Media Bag (Outer Shell)

  • Material: UV–resistant PE plastic, black inside, white outside
  • Function: black layer blocks light to prevent algae and root exposure; white layer reflects sunlight and keeps root zone cooler.
  • Planting holes: 4, 5 or 6 top holes (or custom layout) for single or multiple plants per bag

Production Process at VinaTap Grow Bag Factory

  1. Raw Material Selection: premium coconut materials from main coconut regions in Vietnam (Ben Tre, etc.), 100% coconut–based – no soil or heavy clay added.
  2. Crushing & Sieving: coir is crushed and sieved to remove sand, dust, and large contaminants.
  3. Soaking & Incubation: material is soaked multiple times and incubated for about 15 days to wash out salt, tannins and lignin, lowering EC and improving stability.
  4. Drying: drum dryers at 350 – 400°C reduce moisture and ensure thermal disinfection of the substrate.
  5. Mixing & Compression: cocopeat, fibers and husk chips are mixed according to recipe (e.g. 70/30, 60/40) and compressed into slabs.
  6. Packing in PE Bags: compressed slabs are inserted into UV PE bags, sealed and marked with lot code, mix type and EC level.
  7. Export & Delivery: finished grow bags are palletized, loaded into containers and shipped worldwide under strict quality control to meet customer deadlines.

How to Use VINATAP Coco Coir Grow Bags

Step 1 – Positioning the Grow Bag

  • Place the grow bag on benches, racks or bricks at least 10–20 cm above the ground.
  • This helps reduce soil–borne diseases and prevents heat from concrete or brick surfaces from overheating the root zone.

Step 2 – Hydrating the Substrate

  • Cut along the marked lines for planting holes and drainage slits if they are not pre–cut.
  • Slowly add clean water (or nutrient solution) until the coir fully expands and fills the bag.
  • Check that the slab is evenly hydrated – no dry pockets inside.

Step 3 – Fertilization & Nutrient Supply

VINATAP grow bags are delivered without chemical fertilizers inside, so you can fully control your nutrient program:

  • Use drip irrigation with balanced NPK + micro–nutrients according to crop stage.
  • Adjust EC and pH of nutrient solution suitable for each crop (tomato, cucumber, strawberry, etc.).

Step 4 – Planting & Growing

  • Transplant seedlings or young plants into pre–cut holes (commonly 2–4 plants per bag).
  • Maintain regular drip cycles so that the slab is always moist but not waterlogged.
  • Monitor drainage EC to balance fertigation schedule.

Step 5 – Reuse & Environmental Care

  • Coir substrate can be reused for some crops after proper pasteurization and cleaning.
  • After finishing the crop, please collect and recycle PE covers to reduce plastic waste.

Advantages of VINATAP Coco Coir Grow Bags

  • High water–holding capacity with excellent aeration for strong root development.
  • Stable pH and low EC – suitable for sensitive crops and precise fertigation.
  • Lightweight & easy to handle – simple installation in greenhouses and balconies.
  • Space efficient: compressed slabs save storage and shipping volume.
  • Environmentally friendly: made from renewable coconut by–products.
  • Custom blends and sizes to match the growing system of each customer or project.
