VinaTap Coco Peat + Perlite Mix 70/30 – Premium Growing Medium from Vietnam
VinaTap Coco Perlite Mix is a professional growing medium made from 70% washed & buffered coco peat and 30% high-quality perlite. Manufactured in Vietnam under ISO 9001:2015 standards, this substrate is ideal for vegetables, flowers, berries, herbs, cannabis, hydroponics, nurseries, and potting soil production.
All raw materials are washed, buffered with Calcium Nitrate, and high-temperature disinfected to ensure low EC, stable pH, and a clean, uniform structure suitable for global export markets.
1. What Is Coco Peat (Coconut Coir)?
Coco peat, also known as coconut coir or coir pith, is produced from the fibrous layer between the hard coconut shell and the outer husk.
It has become one of the most popular growing media worldwide because it offers:
- High water-holding capacity
- Good aeration and root-zone structure
- Long life and reusability
- Appearance and behavior similar to peat moss
- 100% renewable and environmentally friendly origin
VinaTap uses carefully selected coco peat that is washed, buffered, screened and sterilized to meet professional horticulture standards.
2. What Is Perlite?
Perlite is a volcanic mineral that expands like popcorn when heated at very high temperatures in a kiln. This expansion creates a lightweight, porous material that is excellent for:
- Improving aeration in potting mixes
- Enhancing drainage and preventing waterlogging
- Maintaining oxygen levels around plant roots
- Reducing compaction and improving soil structure
When combined with coco peat, perlite optimizes the balance between water retention and air porosity, which is crucial for intensive fertigation and hydroponic systems.
3. Why Choose VinaTap Coco Peat + Perlite Mix (70/30)?
VinaTap Coco Perlite Mix 70/30 is a ready-to-use substrate designed to replace traditional potting soil and peat-based mixes.
- 70% premium coco peat – washed, buffered, low EC
- 30% perlite – improves aeration and drainage
This blend creates a growing medium with:
- Excellent water retention without waterlogging
- High air porosity for healthy root development
- High cation exchange capacity (CEC) for nutrient holding
- Stable physical structure for long crop cycles
Growers can irrigate more frequently and feed more actively without worrying about poor drainage or lack of oxygen at the root zone.
4. What Happens When Perlite Is Added to Coco Peat or Soil?
Adding perlite to coco peat or soil immediately improves the physical structure of the medium:
- Makes the mix lighter and more open
- Improves drainage and reduces the risk of root rot
- Increases oxygen availability for roots
- Helps prevent compaction over time
However, the ratio must be correct. Too much perlite can lead to poor water retention; too little will not provide enough drainage.
For most crops, a ratio of around 30% perlite : 70% coco/soil works extremely well. VinaTap’s 70/30 Coco Perlite Mix is pre-formulated to provide this optimum balance.

8. How to Use VinaTap Coco Perlite Mix
A. As a Standalone Potting Medium
- Fill the pot or container about 2/3 full with VinaTap Coco Perlite Mix.
- Place the plant or seedling in the center.
- Fill the remaining space up to the rim and gently press the surface.
- Water thoroughly until the medium is evenly moist.
B. As a Component in Custom Mixes
Mix VinaTap Coco Perlite Mix with other substrates (compost, soil, bark, husk chips) to adjust drainage, aeration, and water-holding capacity according to crop needs.
For best performance, use together with a professional coco fertilizer program.
9. Reuse of Coco + Perlite Substrate
Coco peat and perlite are both suitable for reuse when handled correctly.
- After harvest, empty the containers and break up the substrate.
- Let the mix dry in the sun, or lightly heat to reduce dead organic material.
- Reuse for less sensitive crops, outdoor plants, or soil improvement.
Reused coco + perlite is excellent for landscaping, tree planting holes, and improving poor soils.
