Coconut peat is a versatile substrate made from coconut shells
Coconut peat is a multi-purpose substrate made from coconut shells. Coir shells are prewashed, machine dried, screened and removed sand and other impurities such as animal and plant carcasses.
Description
Coco peat is used as a soil additive. Ideal growing medium for plants. Used for horticultural and agricultural applications.
The coco peat is porous and not easily waterlogged. Its air-filled porosity and high water holding capacity make it an ideal growing medium for plants. It is 100% organic and eco-friendly, free from soil pathogens and weeds.
Trichoderma is a fungus found naturally in coco peat; It works symbiotically with plant roots to protect them from pathogenic fungi such as pythium. It is not present in pasteurized coco peat. In the case of sterilized coco peat, there is no Trichoderma fungus due to the sterilization process. In coco peat contains natural trichoderma which acts as a biological agent against harmful pathogens. It provides an excellent environment for fungi and beneficial bacteria to grow.
Coconut peat increases the porosity of the potting mixture. This helps keep the soil loose and aerated for better root growth. Better root growth leads to better plant growth and higher yields.
Coco peat increases the water holding capacity of the potting mix while increasing the porosity of the soil. This ensures that the plant is not flooded or under-watered. High porosity, high water holding capacity and high cation exchange capacity mean that the amount of coco peat needed per plant can be very small.
Coco peat has excellent properties that make it a very durable hydroponic (soil-free) medium. As an organic medium, it has a high cation exchange capacity allowing nutrients to be absorbed and released to plants according to their needs.
Coco Peat is very easy to re-wet. Dried coco peat is very hydrophilic and absorbs water quickly, so it is easy to use. The coco peat can be compressed to 1/5 of the volume or less reducing transportation, storage and handling costs.
Coconut peat is a regenerative medium. It is extracted from coconut shells. What was once a scrap just a few decades ago is now one of India's Coir Board's key export areas.
Coco peat can be pressed into a variety of shapes and sizes to suit all growing applications. Coco peat mixed with shredded coconut shell provides all the advantages of coco peat while increasing the drainage capacity of the mixture.
Coconut peat has a consistent and uniform texture. It is a completely homogenous material composed of millions of capillary microsponges capable of absorbing and holding water up to 8 times its own weight. A natural pH of 5.7 to 6.5 ensures that the peat will hold and release nutrients in the solution for a long time without re-watering.
Coconut peat from orgakart is 100% dry. No moisture. It contains a number of macro and micro phytonutrients, including significant amounts of potassium.
Available in 5kg, 10kg, 25kg and 50kg bags or 5kg, 50kg blocks or 0.5kg, 0.65kg, 1kg bricks
