1. What Is VinaTap Peat Moss?

Peat moss is a slightly to moderately decomposed organic material derived mainly from mosses and other plant residues. It is widely used worldwide as a soil-less horticultural medium thanks to its favorable biological, physical and chemical properties.

At VinaTap Vietnam, peat moss is processed into a clean, uniform substrate suitable for:

  • Greenhouses & nursery production
  • Open-field vegetable & flower cultivation
  • Mushroom production
  • Potting soil and professional substrates

Our peat moss is engineered to be lightweight, airy, absorbent and microbiologically safe, making it an excellent base or component for any growing media formula.

3. Production Process at VinaTap Factory

VinaTap operates a modern peat moss processing line in Vietnam with strict quality control. The process includes:

  1. Raw material harvesting
Peat is extracted from selected deposits and transported to the VinaTap screening plant.
  2. Screening and impurity removal
The raw peat moss is screened to remove stones, soil, roots and other impurities.
  3. High-temperature drying
Peat moss is dried in industrial ovens at 800–900°C, reducing moisture from ≈65% to <20% to remove bitumic content and stabilize the material.
  4. Hammer milling
Dried peat moss passes through a hammer mill to achieve a controlled particle size of 0.5–6 mm for optimal aeration and water retention.
  5. Block pressing or loose bagging
    The milled material is either:
    • Pressed into blocks with a compression ratio of about 7:1, or
    • Packed as loose peat moss in volume bags (50L–1000L).
  6. Packaging & palletizing
Bags and blocks are palletized according to customer requirements and prepared for export.

This controlled process ensures consistent quality, low impurities and stable physical parameters suitable for professional horticulture.

8. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q1. What is the main difference between VinaTap peat moss and coco peat?

A1. Peat moss is a decomposed organic material with high humic content and high water-holding capacity, ideal as a base for potting soils. Coco peat, made from coconut husk, has higher porosity and faster drainage. Many professional growers use a mix of both to balance water retention and aeration.

Q2. Is VinaTap peat moss sterilized and safe for seedlings?

A2. Yes. Our peat moss is carefully buffered and treated at high temperatures (>400°C), removing fungi, harmful bacteria, insects and weed seeds. This makes it suitable for seedlings, nurseries and sensitive crops when blended correctly with nutrients.

Q3. Can I buy customized blends with coco peat or perlite?

A3. Absolutely. VinaTap can supply peat moss as a single component, or as part of a ready-to-use mix with coco peat, coco husk chips, perlite or rice husk ash, according to your crop and market requirements.

Q4. What packaging size is best for export containers?

A4. For most export buyers, 100L bags and 500–1000L jumbo bags optimize space and handling. However, we can also supply 50L bags for retail or white-label brands.

Q5. How do I get pricing and samples?

A5. Please send us your required volume, packaging format and destination port. We can provide FOB or CIF quotations and, if needed, arrange paid courier samples before a trial order.
