Hydroponic growing medium is one of the indispensable materials when growing hydroponically. It has the role of replacing traditional soil. Both fix the tree and create conditions for the tree to grow. Vegetable growing medium is usually made from rice husk ash, sawdust or coir that has been carefully processed. The main effect is to fix the plant, keep moisture, create ventilation for the roots to develop. It is also resistant to bacteria and fungi that cause disease.

Growing hydroponic vegetables from coir substrates
Coir is the shredded or crushed coconut shell. After a thorough processing and incubation, they will be brought in to be used as a growing medium for vegetables. Coir can help plants grow and develop in the most healthy way.

Nutritional composition in coir: 18% lignin, 80% cellulose and other compounds. In addition, this medium also has high aeration, so plants can absorb more air and nutrients. The pH of coir ranges from about 4.5 to 6.9.

Prepare planting trays, seeds for sowing and treated coir substrate. Choose small trays made from plastic or foam. Vegetable growing medium can combine from 1/3 coco coir, 1/3 composted manure and 1/3 organic matter.

Line up the prepared trays and then remember to water them daily for the seeds to grow. After 10-15 days, they are planted.

Switch to the large potting tray
Prepare the substrate: mix 40% treated coir + 40% rotting organic matter + 20% microbial fertilizer. Mix the above mixture and put in large potting trays with larger holes.

Planting: Use your fingers to gently press the bottom of the pot on the small tray. Take out an intact pot and plant it in a large pot.

Plant care: Use microbiological fertilizers or other fertilizers for vegetables to fertilize plants. Use an automatic rotating irrigation system to keep plants moist.

Harvest crops: After switching to planting in a large potting tray, it will take 15-20 days to harvest.

Coir medium is now commonly used in both hydroponic and soil cultivation. That's because it brings together all the elements of a perfect medium. Hopefully the above information will help you have more references and choose to grow hydroponic vegetables from coir substrates.
