1. What Is Coco Peat?

Coco Peat, also known as Coir Pith, is the fine, powdery byproduct of coconut husk processing.

It has a soft texture, high water retention, and excellent ability to retain nutrients, making it perfect for seed germination, hydroponic vegetables, and potting mixes.

Main Characteristics:

  • Particle size: 0.5 – 2 mm

  • EC: < 0.5 mS/cm (washed)

  • pH: 5.5 – 6.5

  • Water retention: 70–80%

  • Compression: 5:1 (5kg blocks or 25kg bales)

✅ Ideal for: tomatoes, lettuce, cucumbers, leafy greens, herbs.

✅ Common form: 5kg block or grow bag substrate.

2. What Are Coco Husk Chips?

Coco Husk Chips are small pieces cut from coconut husks, offering better air circulation and drainage than fine coco peat.

They provide excellent root oxygenation, making them perfect for fruiting crops and orchids that dislike waterlogging.

Main Characteristics:

  • Particle size: 6–18 mm (customizable)

  • EC: < 0.5 mS/cm (washed)

  • pH: 5.5 – 6.5

  • Water retention: moderate (50–60%)

  • Compression: 5:1 (blocks) / 2:1 (bales)

✅ Ideal for: strawberries, orchids, melons, roses, and peppers.

✅ Common form: washed chips, 5kg block, or 25kg bale.
